national-iconStatistics & Sex Trafficking in Maine

No issue may be more threatening to the well-being of Maine's most vulnerable populations than the proliferation of human sex trafficking rings. It is extremely alarming to note that calls to the National Human Trafficking Resource Center Hotline originating from Maine have increased by over 50% in recent years (NHTRC, 2012). Providers from every area of Maine report serving victims of sexual exploitation, and the numbers are expected to continue to rise.

Between 2007 and 2015,

the National Human Trafficking Resource Center hotline received

over 240 calls from Maine

And identified at least 41 cases where trafficking was likely perpetrated.
